Driveways in Saxilby
Cracked tarmac, sunken blocks or loose gravel spilling onto the pavement? At Affordable Driveways & Patios Ltd, we lay and restore driveways across Saxilby in resin, tarmac, block paving, gravel and concrete, so you get the right surface for your property, your budget and the way you use it. Our Saxilby driveway paving is guaranteed and built on a fully excavated, compacted sub-base, which is what stops a drive rutting or sinking a few winters down the line.
Resin-bound driveways give a smooth, permeable finish with no loose stones. Tarmac suits long drives and heavier vehicles at a lower cost per square metre. Block paving offers the widest choice of colours and laying patterns, gravel is the quickest and most affordable option, and imprinted concrete can recreate the look of stone, slate or cobbles for far less.
Not sure which to go for? We'll assess your access, gradient, parking needs and the style of your home, then price up each suitable option so you can compare like for like.
Driveway Contractors Near Me for New Driveways & Repairs
Whether you want a new driveway in Saxilby or an existing one brought back into shape, we handle the whole job, including dig-out, edging, drainage, laying and clearing away. We also carry out driveway repair and resurfacing, from re-levelling sunken blocks to overlaying worn tarmac, which is often a fraction of the cost of full replacement. Every front driveway is designed around current planning rules, using permeable surfaces or channelling water to a soakaway, so you avoid the need for planning permission.

Affordable Driveway Companies Near Me
The cost of a driveway depends on three things: the surface you choose, the size of the area and how much groundwork is needed underneath. Gravel and tarmac are usually the most budget-friendly, resin and block paving sit in the mid-to-upper range, and imprinted concrete offers a patterned finish without the price of natural stone. At Affordable Driveways & Patios Ltd, we measure up on site and give you a fixed written quote for each option, with excavation, edging and waste removal included, so you know exactly what you're paying before any work starts.
Driveway surfaces we install:
- Resin-bound & resin-bonded driveways
- Tarmac driveways
- Block paving driveways
- Gravel driveways
- Imprinted concrete driveways
- Plain concrete driveways
Driveway Repair & Resurfacing in Saxilby
A tired driveway doesn't always need ripping out. We re-bed sunken or rocking blocks, re-sand open joints to stop weeds coming through, patch potholes and cracks in tarmac, and repair lifted or discoloured resin. Where the base is still sound, a tarmac overlay or fresh resin layer can give you a brand-new surface for considerably less than a full replacement.
We'll tell you honestly whether a repair will last or whether replacement is the better long-term spend. We also offer jet washing and re-sealing for block paving and tarmac, which keeps the surface protected from oil stains, frost damage and moss.

FAQs for driveways
A permeable driveway lets rainwater soak through the surface into the ground below rather than running off onto the road. Resin-bound surfaces, gravel and permeable block paving all fall into this category. As well as reducing puddling and flood risk, a permeable driveway usually means you won’t need planning permission for a front garden driveway. We build the sub-base with open-graded stone so water drains away freely.
In most cases, no. Under current rules in England, a new or replacement front driveway over 5 square metres doesn’t need planning permission if it uses a permeable surface, or if rainwater is directed to a lawn, border or soakaway within your property. If water would run off onto the road, permission is required. Creating a new vehicle access across a pavement or verge also needs separate approval from your local council for a dropped kerb. We design every driveway to meet these rules and can advise on your specific site.
The best driveway surface depends on how you use it and how much upkeep you want. Resin-bound is smooth, permeable and low maintenance, and a well-installed resin driveway typically lasts 15 to 25 years. Tarmac is hard-wearing and suits long drives and heavier vehicles. Block paving offers the most design choice, and individual blocks can be lifted and replaced. Gravel is quick to lay and drains naturally, while imprinted concrete gives a patterned finish that’s tough and easy to clean.
Gravel is usually the cheapest driveway to install, as it needs less labour and a simpler base than other surfaces. Tarmac is the next most affordable option and gives a solid, sealed finish for the money. That said, the cheapest surface isn’t always the best value. Gravel needs occasional topping up and raking, so we’ll talk you through the long-term costs as well as the upfront price.
The cost of a new driveway depends on the surface, the size of the area and how much groundwork is needed. Gravel and tarmac are generally the lowest cost per square metre, resin and block paving sit higher, and imprinted concrete falls in between. Dig-out depth, drainage, kerbs and access for machinery all affect the final figure, which is why we survey every driveway before pricing. You’ll get a free written quote for each suitable surface so you can compare them side by side.
